Friends of Euclid Creek

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend our next meeting of Friends of Euclid Creek. The meeting is Tuesday February 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the South Euclid Community Center (see below for directions). Claire Posius, our new Watershed Coordinator from the Soil and Water Conservation District will share her goals for the watershed plan this coming year.

Another date to mark on your calendar is Wednesday, February 20 at 5:30 at the South Euclid Library (not the Community Center). The purpose of this meeting is to put in motion the fund-raising plans for this year. At the first meeting on January 15th, four committees were designated: Planning, Canvassing, Events and Grants. We now need many volunteers that can attend this meeting, align themselves with one or more committees and help move forward our fund-raising plans. We are looking to raise at least $30,000 this year to provide the twenty-percent matching funds to the CleanLand Ohio grant for the goldenrod meadow and for other projects. We need your help.

Then the regular March meeting will be one day later and at a different venue. It will be Wednesday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. at Shaker Lakes Nature Center . The meeting will feature David Beach, formerly Director of EcoCity Cleveland, who will head the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s new Sustainability program. We are inviting the other watershed groups locally to join us.
